Q. What is Charastar?

Charastar is a collection of free character clipart illustrations. (For free commercial use, a copyright or source credit is required.)

Q. What file format are the download images?

By default, images are provided as PNG files with a transparent background.

Q. Why do the sample images have the “©DESIGNALIKIE” watermark on them?

The “©DESIGNALIKIE” watermark on sample images is there to help prevent unauthorized copying. It does not appear on the actual download files or on images you purchase.

Q. Are larger image sizes paid?

Yes. Larger image sizes are offered as paid options. Please contact us via the inquiry form for details.

Q. Can I use these images with generative AI tools like ChatGPT?

No. Uploading Charastar images to generative AI services and creating similar images based on them is prohibited.

Using images for personal / non-commercial projects

Q. What counts as an educational institution?

Examples include preschools, kindergartens, child care centers, elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, colleges, public parks, libraries, community cultural centers, and public sports facilities. If you are not sure whether your organization qualifies, please contact us.

Q. How can I use the images for personal or non-commercial projects?

For personal and non-commercial use, you may use the images without a copyright notice on websites, blogs, school or class websites, YouTube videos, and social media posts (such as X/Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc.). However, reselling the image files themselves or redistributing them as a separate clipart collection is not allowed.

Q. Is there a limit on how many times I can use an image?

The images are royalty-free. There are no limits on the number of projects, frequency of use, or time period for approved uses.

Q. Can I edit the images?

You may resize the images or adjust colors. However, changing the character’s facial expression or pose is not allowed.

Q. Who owns the copyright to the illustrations?

The copyright for all illustrations belongs to DESIGNALIKIE, the company operating the Charastar clipart service. We grant you a license to use the images; ownership of the artwork does not transfer.

Q. Do I have to include a “©DESIGNALIKIE” copyright notice?

For personal / non-commercial use, a copyright notice is not required. However, regardless of whether you display a credit, the copyright remains with DESIGNALIKIE.

Q. Can I resell the images?

No. Resale or redistribution of the image files themselves is not permitted.

Q. Can I use the images on products or goods that I sell?

No. Using the free images on products or goods that you sell is not allowed. Use on purely hobby-level items without profit may be allowed; please contact us if you are unsure.

Q. Can I use the images for LINE stickers or similar stamp apps?

No. Using Charastar images for LINE stickers or similar sticker services is not permitted.

Licenses for commercial use

Q. How does commercial use work?

When using the free S-size images for commercial purposes, you must include either the copyright notice (©DESIGNALIKIE) or a source credit (charastar.com).

Q. What types of commercial use are allowed with a proper license?

With the appropriate license, you can use the images in a wide range of promotional materials, such as flyers, advertisements, in-store signage, TV commercials, YouTube ads, and other marketing content.

Q. How do I purchase larger image sizes or commercial licenses?

Please contact us via the inquiry form with details about how you plan to use the images.

Q. What payment methods do you accept?

We currently accept bank transfer and PayPal.

Q. Who covers the transfer fees?

Any bank transfer fees are the customer’s responsibility. PayPal fees are covered on our side; there is no extra fee for the payer.

Q. When do I need to pay?

After you place an order, we will send you an email with the order details and payment instructions. Please complete payment by the due date indicated in that email.

Q. How will I receive the image files?

After we confirm your payment, we will send you a download URL, or for small orders, we may send the files directly by email.

Q. Can you issue a receipt?

Because payments are handled via bank transfer or PayPal, we generally do not issue separate receipts. Please use your bank transfer confirmation or PayPal transaction record as proof of payment.

Q. What is PayPal?

PayPal is one of the most widely used online payment services worldwide. Registration is free, and there is no additional fee for the payer. Fees are charged to the recipient. You can also pay by credit card through PayPal. Please create a PayPal account in advance if you plan to use this method.

Editing services and custom character creation

Q. Can you change a character’s pose to match what I need?

Yes, we can provide pose changes as a paid custom service. Please contact us for details and a quote.

Q. Can you add specific outfits or items to a character?

Yes, we can add clothing, accessories, or items as a paid custom option. Please contact us for details.

Q. Can you animate a character for use in a video?

Yes, we can create simple character animations for video as a paid service. Please contact us for more information.

Q. Can you design an original character based on our company’s needs?

Yes, we offer custom character design as a paid service. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.

Q. How long does it take to create custom artwork?

For static illustrations, production usually takes from a few days up to about one week, depending on the complexity. For animated video content, production may take around one month.

Q. Who owns the copyright to custom characters you create?

The copyright to any custom artwork we create remains with DESIGNALIKIE as the creator. We grant you a license to use the artwork, including exclusive use for your brand or project, but the underlying copyright does not transfer.
